Look beyond the dial and the bracelet can completely change the character of a Rolex.

The Oyster bracelet is the most purposeful of the four. Its broad, flat three-piece links give it a robust, understated appearance that feels perfectly suited to professional models such as the Submariner. The clasp and adjustment system vary depending on the model and reference.

The five-link Jubilee was created for the launch of the Datejust in 1945. Its smaller links create a supple feel and reflect more light, giving the watch a dressier appearance. Today, it is available on selected Datejust, GMT-Master II and Sky-Dweller references.

Rolex introduced the President bracelet with the Day-Date in 1956. Its semi-circular three-piece links flow around the wrist, while its precious-metal construction gives it a more formal presence. It remains closely associated with the Day-Date, with the exact configuration determined by the individual reference.

Then there is Oysterflex. Rolex introduced it in 2015 on the Yacht-Master 37 to answer the demands of selected Professional watches. Flexible metal blades sit beneath high-performance elastomer, combining the resistance and security of metal with the comfort and flexibility of elastomer. It is currently available only on selected Cosmograph Daytona, Yacht-Master and Sky-Dweller references.

These are four of Rolex’s most recognisable current bracelet designs, rather than its complete bracelet catalogue. Rolex also offers newer designs including the Flat Jubilee and Settimo, while collectors may encounter other bracelet styles across discontinued and vintage references.

The important point is that bracelet choice is not always a free choice. Availability depends on the model, material and exact reference. A bracelet can also influence how a watch wears, how formal or sporty it appears and, for many buyers, which version feels right on the wrist.

SUPERFAKES: WHY BOX AND PAPERS ARE NO LONGER ENOUGH

Counterfeit luxury watches were once relatively easy to identify. Poor finishing, incorrect proportions and unreliable movements often exposed them immediately.

That is no longer always the case.

Modern “superfakes” can imitate the appearance, dimensions, weight and finishing of a genuine watch with alarming accuracy. Packaging, guarantee cards, documentation and serial numbers can also be convincingly copied.

A watch can look right while its story is completely wrong.

The problem is not limited to entirely fake watches. A “Frankenwatch” may combine genuine, counterfeit, aftermarket, modified or period-incorrect components. Individual parts may be authentic, but the complete watch may be incorrectly configured, significantly affecting its authenticity and value.

Box and papers remain desirable, but they should support provenance rather than prove authenticity on their own. The case, movement, bracelet, dial, bezel, serial numbers, documentation and history must tell one consistent story.

Manufacturers are fighting back with unique serial numbers, controlled replacement parts, digital records, NFC-enabled guarantee cards, security features, improved documentation and Certified Pre-Owned inspections.

These measures make counterfeiting more difficult, but expert physical examination remains essential.

When buying pre-owned, buy the seller as carefully as the watch. Question a price far below market, request clear provenance, match the watch to its serial numbers and papers, ask about replaced or modified parts, and insist on professional inspection.

ROLEX: INVESTMENT OR ILLUSION?
 What the facts really say.

Few watches create more debate over value than Rolex. The Jubilee-motif Oyster Perpetual, Daytona “Panda” and GMT-Master II “Pepsi” attract extraordinary attention—but hype and long-term value are not the same.

The Pepsi 126710BLRO is a perfect case study.

Introduced in 2018 at around £6,800 in the UK, it was almost impossible to obtain at retail. Secondary-market listings quickly exceeded £14,000. Transaction data shows average prices rising from approximately £13,500 in 2020 to £21,500 in 2022, with examples reaching the high-£20,000s at the market peak.

For someone who bought at retail, it looked like an exceptional investment. For someone who bought at the top, the story was very different.

As the wider watch market cooled, average Pepsi prices fell to around £17,300 in 2023—almost 19% below the previous year. The watch had not changed. The market’s willingness to pay had.

When Rolex discontinued the steel Pepsi in 2026, scarcity drove renewed demand. Prices rose sharply, then eased as more watches appeared for sale. By early August, the estimated UK pre-owned price was around £16,200, versus a final UK retail price of £9,850. Asking prices varied by age, condition and completeness.

The lesson? Price and value are not the same.

An owner who bought at retail may be in an extremely strong position. Someone who paid the 2022 peak could still face a substantial paper loss. Same watch. Same reference. Completely different result.

The Jubilee-motif Oyster Perpetual and Daytona Panda show that today’s most talked-about watches can command a premium—but desirability does not guarantee future returns.

Buy the right watch. Understand the market. Pay the right price. Most importantly, choose something you would still love if its value fell tomorrow.

If you’re into watches, you’ve probably heard it—or worse: “Tudor is just a poor man’s Rolex.”

Tudor and Rolex are family. Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, created Tudor to offer dependable watches at a more accessible price.

Does Tudor share Rolex heritage? Absolutely.
Does that make it a cheap Rolex? Absolutely not.

TUDOR HAS ITS OWN IDENTITY
Pick up a Black Bay 58 or Pelagos and you’re not looking at an imitation Submariner. You’re looking at a Tudor.
